Produced by London production house Riff Raff, the films use intelligently written rap and an unusual cast of characters to sell the new features of the car. The films were created with an old school style of animation in mind which keeps the storyline closely linked to the rappers words.
For the film starring ‘Gadget Guy’ we used 3D to develop a cartoon pasta machine on top of the car. We wanted to produce a specific rendering somewhere between Roger Rabbit and a more contemporary 2D style. We used a lot of CG plugs to accessorise the Monster Truck (guess where they are!), leaving the rest of the animation to be created using 12fps in Photoshop. Borel Sigma Design took on the talents of Florian and Aurélien to take care of all the 2D designing and with a robust team of 2D animators, we completed the work within the 2 months schedule we were given, finishing the compositing in Flame.
